Welcome to the November 2007 issue of About the Valley. We hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving. This issue is dedicated to some of the December holiday activities scheduled for Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

World's Largest Outlet Extravaganza at Belz Factory Outlet in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee
When: December 1 - December 10, 2007

Plan on attending the World's Largest Outlet Extravanganza. Located next door to the Great Smoky Mountains, the Belz Factory Outlet will have more than 200 stores represented, each giving you the best bargains around. Shop for sportswear and casual fashions plus plenty of other great items. Plus, there are several dining establishments present, from Subway to TCBY Yogurt.

There are always exciting promotions and giveaways during this annual event. Santa Claus is also going to be hanging around meeting kids and taking pictures, so make sure you catch up with him and turn in your wish list! Don't miss the World's Largest Outlet Extravaganza.

Gatlinburg's Festival of Trees
When: December 3 - December 5, 2007

Get in the holiday spirit with Gatlinburg’s Festival of Trees that features hundreds of beautifully decorated Christmas Trees on display. This event is free and open to the public and will be held at the Gatlinburg Convention Center. Enjoy all the sparkling trees decorated with ornaments and lights.

Smoky Mountain Christmas Festival at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN
When: November 10 – December 30, 2007

Plan to visit Dollywood for the Dollywood's Babes in Toyland. It is a Christmastime must-see, and it's only at Dollywood. You can also see Santa’s Workshop and roving characters will delight the whole family. Sensational stage shows, festival foods, thrilling rides, and over 3 million lights complete Dollywood's winter wonderland! Each night guests of the park will be able to witness one of the largest Holiday light experiences in the country with the Carol of the Trees, a combination of fireworks and thousands of holiday lights.

CRANBERRY CONGEALED SALAD
INGREDIENTS:

1 large package raspberry Jello

2 cups boiling water

1 (#2) can whole cranberry sauce

1 (#2) can crushed pineapple, drained

Mix Jello, water, and cranberry sauce and congeal slightly. Add pineapple and congeal until firm.

TOPPING:

1 large package cream cheese

1 cup sour cream

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 cup chopped pecans

Mix and beat cream cheese, sour cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Spread on top of congealed Jello and sprinkle top with pecans.
